This month’s movie is a classic from 1996, but you probably haven’t seen it before. What happens if you are already engaged to someone and then become interested in a new person? The movie is in Chinese, but of course we will see it with English subtitles.
Join us for our monthly trip to the cinema. If you are new to the group, there is no RSVP, no email. Just show up about 15-20 minutes prior to the scheduled start and look for a group of people (usually) speaking English and ask if it is the Connect Movie Club.
After the movie, we visit a restaurant in the neighborhood and discuss it.
Jun arrives in Hong Kong from mainland China, hoping to be able to earn enough money to marry his girlfriend back home. He meets the streetwise Qiao and they become friends. As friendship turns into love, problems develop, and although they seem meant for each other they somehow keep missing out.
